He is the chairman and CEO of the American Soccer club Sacramento Republic FC, who are seeking to join the Major League Soccer (MLS).

The Terriers announced on Thursday that Nagle has taken full ownership of shares in the club.

The deal with former chairman Dean Hoyle has been approved by the English Football League and the Financial Conduct Authority.

The conclusion of the takeover brings to an end Hoyle’s 14-year spell as owner of the Yorkshire outfit.

Nagle said: “I am extremely humbled and excited to be the new steward of Huddersfield Town.

“I would like to thank Dean Hoyle, Dave Baldwin, the EFL and FCA for all their help and attention to detail over the past few months.

“A special thanks to the wonderful Town supporters who have also been so supportive and patient.

“I know how deeply they care for this club, and I do not intend to let them down. Now let’s get to work.”

Huddersfield finished third in the Championship in the 2021-22 season, earning a shot at promotion through the play-offs.

But a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest in the final ended their dreams of climbing into the Premier League.

The Terriers endured a challenging 2022-23 campaign, spending much of the season in the relegation zone.

Veteran manager Neil Warnock came out of retirement to become their manager in February. He worked his magic to keep them in the Championship.

To the delight of fans, the 74-year-old has also agreed a one-year extension to stay on for next term.
