Kevin De Bruyne has provided an update on his recovery from hamstring surgery. The City midfielder is currently out as he continues his rehabilitation from hamstring surgery to repair his troublesome hamstring. He was injured in Manchester City’s opening-day victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

Speaking with Belgian news outlet VTM which was relayed by HLN De Bruyne went into detail about his rehabilitation. He explained that he has a scan next week to check on the progress of his recovery. He explained: “There will be a major scan next week and then we will know how the injury is progressing. Everything is going according to schedule. It’s actually going very well.”

The City midfielder also went into detail about his hamstring injury. He likened his surgery to servicing a car. He added: “It is important that I get this injury 100 per cent right. There were a lot of cracks. Those hamstrings could have torn at any time. It was – on paper – a wet kitchen towel. Ultimately, I had a major maintenance carried out after 700 matches, a bit like you do with your car.”

The Belgian international put in a heroic effort last season to play through injury to help Pep Guardiola’s side secure the treble. His contribution was vital in the treble winner’s history-making campaign. His goal at the Bernabeu gave the European champions the platform to go on to defeat Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League semi-final. He also scored twice against Arsenal in City’s vital 4-1 Premier League win. That win gave the champions the impetus to overhaul Arsenal to the Premier League title.

As it stands De Bruyne isn’t expected to return to the Manchester City line-up until the New Year given the timeframe of his recovery.
