Manchester City have this week been boosted by the return of Kevin De Bruyne to first-team training, with the Belgian sporting a fresh new look in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The 32-year-old has been ruled out of action since early August having sustained a reoccurrence of a hamstring problem that also forced an early withdrawal in the UEFA Champions League final against Inter last season.

Kevin De Bruyne’s exit from the Premier League opener against Burnley at Turf Moor sparked conversations among his inner circle and Manchester City medical staff over the necessity to undergo surgery to prevent any aggravations of the issue in future.

As such, De Bruyne’s operation meant he would be ruled out of action for the Premier League champions until early 2024, and his return to training this week would indicate that the player is well on track to play a crucial role in the second-half of City’s campaign.

Manchester City will embark on the defence of their Emirates FA Cup title in early January, whilst also battling to retain the English top-flight crown for a record-breaking fourth successive season, whilst the Champions League remains a crucial goal for the club.

Monday saw Pep Guardiola’s European champions drawn to face Danish giants FC Copenhagen in the Round of 16, with the Parken-based club defeating the likes of Galatasaray and Manchester United to reach the knock-out stages of the tournament.
