Kerala Blasters have moved swiftly to strengthen their defensive ranks, securing the signing of right-back Amey Ranawade on a five-year contract that runs until May 2030. The 27-year-old arrives following a strong campaign with Odisha FC, where he played on loan from Mumbai City FC during the 2024-25 Indian Super League season.
Ranawade featured in 22 matches for Odisha, starting 18 and amassing 1,675 minutes on the pitch. His performances demonstrated a fine blend of attacking initiative and defensive reliability. Statistically, he emerged with 48 duels won, 20 successful tackles, and 49 recoveries, while also generating 16 chances for his teammates. Remarkably, he managed 7 goal contributions from defence across the season, underlining his value going forward without sacrificing his primary duties.
Known for his tactical intelligence, stamina, and sharp crossing, Ranawade played a vital part in Odisha’s run to the ISL playoffs. His dynamic play on the flank offered both security at the back and an extra edge to the attack, a profile that aligns well with Kerala Blasters’ ambitions.
The Mumbai native first made his mark in the ISL with FC Goa before moving to Mumbai City FC in 2020. During his tenure there, he was part of the 2020-21 double-winning side and secured another League Shield in 2022-23. Internationally, Ranawade has represented India at the U-17 and U-19 levels, illustrating his pedigree and potential from a young age.
Kerala Blasters CEO Abhik Chatterjee described Ranawade as “a modern fullback who will definitely add value to how we want to play at Kerala Blasters Football Club,” adding confidence that the defender will bring “determination, hard work, and relentless energy to the pitch.” Sporting Director Karolis Skinkis welcomed the signing as well, calling Ranawade “one of the best players in his position in the ISL, especially in attacking actions,” and expressing hope that he could push for a senior national team call-up with a strong season in Kochi.
Upon signing, Ranawade expressed both pride and commitment: “I have always admired the passion surrounding this club and I genuinely believe in the project being built here. This is a big opportunity and responsibility to represent Kerala Blasters. I am fully committed to giving my best every single day to help the team succeed.”
With Ranawade as their first signing of the summer window, Kerala Blasters are clearly prioritising both experience and versatility on the right in their push for further progress in the upcoming campaign.
