Kepa Arrizabalaga’s Chelsea future is in serious doubt, and a report in Spain has gone as far as to suggest that he may not feature for the Blues again this season.

The Spanish goalkeeper was dropped for Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Leicester.

Manager Frank Lampard opted to start 38-year-old Willy Caballero between the posts, a decision clearly prompted by Kepa’s poor form during this campaign.

According to Spanish radio station Cope, Lampard has lost faith in the 25-year-old and Caballero will the Blues’ first-choice for the rest of the season as Chelsea scout alternatives to buy in the summer.

Kepa became the world’s most expensive goalkeeper in August 2018 when Chelsea paid Athletic Bilbao €80m to activate his release clause.

However, he has never come close to living up to that price tag, and it seems like the London club are prepared to cut their losses.

The stopper has only kept five clean sheets in 24 league games this season, conceding 32 goals in the process.
