Jon McLaughlin – 7

The stopper made a couple of smart collections over the course of the ninety to ensure that the Accies weren’t able to find the net. Made one quite sensational stop in the late stages as well.

James Tavernier – 7

The skipper defended efficiently, for the most part, tonight as he was forced to do a lot more defending in the second half. Made some good attacking forays in the first period and scored a goal too.

Connor Goldson – 7.5

The experienced centre-half was rarely troubled by the Hamilton attackers tonight as he put in a solid display at the heart of the defence. Made some important blocks and never looked fazed on the ball.

Filip Helander – 7.5

The defender, like his partner at the back, put in a solid performance for Steven Gerrard’s side. Made multiple key blocks and defended well against crosses into the box from wide as well.

Borna Barisic – 7

The speedster made multiple darting forward runs in the first half, but he was forced to do a lot more defending in the second period. Played some good crosses into the box as well.

Ryan Jack – 7

The midfield ace held his position well in the middle of the park and ensured that the Hamilton attackers didn’t have too much time to work the ball. Linked up well with the forward in the first-half too.

Steven Davis – 7

The veteran midfielder had a composed game in front of the centre-halves tonight as he dropped into space in between the defenders and moved the ball around. Showed good composure as well.

Ryan Kent – 7.5

The former Liverpool academy graduate put in a good shift down the flank as he made multiple vital contributions in the first half. Had a good shot parried away by the Hamilton stopper as well.

Brandon Barker – 7

The youngster didn’t have the most influential of matches in the attack but looked extremely dangerous in the first half. Made some sharp forward runs and played some neat crosses too.

Ianis Hagi – 7.5

Like Kent, Hagi was all over the Hamilton defenders in the first half, and he showed excellent predatory instincts in the box to score his goal as well. Looked a lot more subdued in the second period though.

Kemar Roofe – 6.5

The Jamaican striker had a couple of decent chances to score tonight but wasn’t able to find the net. Wasted one glorious chance in the late stages, but held the ball up effectively. Probably should have won a penalty though.
