Career at Valencia CF
'El Matador' was one of the best players in the history of Valencia Club de Fútbol, as well as being one of the top scorers in the Club's history. The Argentinian footballer defended the Valencianista shield for 8 seasons. A few seasons in which he became a legend of the 'che' team.
Mario Kempes joined the club in the summer of 1976, thanks to Bernardino Pérez Elizarán 'Pasieguito', who at that time held the position of Technical Director of the Club. From that moment on, the name of Kempes and his game would go down in the history of Valencia CF.
In the 8 seasons he spent there, he won 3 titles (Copa del Rey in 1978-79, the Cup Winners' Cup in 1979-80 and the European Super Cup in 1980-81), and scored 149 goals in 246 official matches. As a Valencia CF player, he was also a World Cup winner with Argentina.
