Ahead of the trip to Augsburg, Dino Toppmöller discusses injuries, the opposition and options to replace Ellyes Skhiri in midfield.
... opponents FC Augsburg: “At Augsburg we can expect a contest against a team who battle very hard. As well as that fighting spirit they have some good elements in their play. They’re difficult to play through and are still unbeaten under the new coach for a reason. We want to end that on Sunday. First and foremost it’ll come down to how we fight back and bring our own game onto the pitch.”
... team news: “Robin Koch is back and will be in the squad against Augsburg. Ellyes Skhiri got injured against PAOK and is out. So is Timothy Chandler, who picked up an injury in training. Sebastian Rode sadly won’t be involved.”
... the options in midfield: “Kristijan Jakic, Mario Götze and Junior Dina Ebimbe are all in contention for Sunday. The workload is currently very high for every player and we’re trying to manage it as best we can. Makoto Hasebe has left a good impression on us. We also trust him as a number six as he’s an extremely intelligent, hard-working player.”
... efficiency and luck: “We have to try to get a certain consistency over 90 minutes. You’re not going to manage that over the whole game. Even in our best performances we’ve not done that – only in spells. Ultimately we need to work on our efficiency, keep at it and get the rewards for the good periods we have in the game.”
