Everton faced off against Aston Villa at Villa Park earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a positive result on their travels. The Toffees made a slow start to the game but defended well and went into the half-time break all level on the scoreline.
Both sides fought tooth and nail in search of the three points but struggled to break each other down as they had to settle for a scoreless draw after the full-time whistle.
Let’s take a look at how each Everton player fared during the match against the Villans.
The English keeper made a couple of solid saves during the game and secured an easy clean sheet away from home.
Holgate maintained a good defensive shape at the back but struggled to create anything of note in the final third.
Keane was excellent in the air as he won several important aerial duels for his side. He will be pleased with the clean sheet tonight.
He won a few crucial aerial duels and cleared his lines when needed. Godfrey did enough to restrict the opposition from scoring during the 90 minutes.
The French full-back didn’t put a foot wrong on the defensive end of the field. He also orchestrated a few decent chances going forward.
He tracked back to help out his teammates in defence and had a couple of lively moments in the opposition half.
Doucoure covered a lot of ground in midfield and managed to disrupt the opposition’s rhythm in the game. He also had some memorable moments in the final third.
He did a little bit of everything at the centre of the park but lacked creativity with his passing from midfield.
The Icelandic international had a few bright moments in the contest but didn’t do enough to get his name on the scoresheet.
Calvert-Lewin was Carlo Ancelotti’s best hope for a goal. However, he couldn’t take any of the chances he got.
The Brazilian attacker created some meaningful openings for others around him. However, he missed two good chances as well.
He got himself into some promising areas in the final third but didn’t have his shooting boots on.
Iwobi added some pace to the Toffees attack.
