Marcus Rashford’s eighth-minute penalty was all Manchester United needed to claim all three points against Leicester over the weekend at Old Trafford.
Though James Maddison and Ben Chilwell had their chances, the Foxes suffered their first loss of the season and missed a chance to be alone in second place ahead of Manchester City.
After the match, goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel was livid at the way his side began the contest.
“It’s very frustrating,” he said. “You can’t start the way we did and give yourselves such a mountain to climb, but we played better towards the end of the first half.
“The start killed us a little bit and there were lots of stray passes – we didn’t quite get the slick passing that everybody wanted. It’s very frustrating now.
“We’re going to keep trying and we’ll obviously finish up the league as high as we can. We’re going to go about our work and learn from today because there are a lot of things to learn.”
Leicester will have another chance to prove their mettle against top opposition when they host Tottenham on Saturday.
