Hull City are being made to wait until the very last minute over a potential deal to sign Karl Darlow from Newcastle United.
That is according to the latest update on the situation from Alan Nixon, via Patreon.
Indeed, in his report, Nixon states that the Magpies want to keep hold of their goalkeeper for the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final versus Southampton.
It is said that Darlow is needed in case of emergencies before the clash, and that if he is on the bench for the tie, there could be a race for Hull to get him registered.
The semi-final second leg tie is due to take place on Tuesday, the 31st January at 8PM. That means the final whistle will come not too long before the transfer deadline at 11PM.
Hull City were first linked with a move for Darlow earlier this month, with The Sun reporting that the 32-year-old was now third choice at St. James Park.
That came after former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius recently extended his stay in the North East until at least the end of the season.

Huddersfield Town are also said to be another interested Darlow party, with the Terriers seeking a replacement for Lee Nicholls, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the season.
It would be incredibly harsh for Newcastle to keep Darlow at the club if indeed he wants to move away and he has been reduced to third choice keeper.
At the same time, though, if they may need him for Tuesday, you can understand why they are taking the stance they are.
A semi-final is a huge deal for Newcastle and they are not going to want to do anything that could potentially jeopardise them if they pick up an injury or two.
It remains to be seen whether Hull City can afford to leave a deal for a keeper as late as Tuesday evening, though.
