Karl Darlow has given an honest assessment of his performance against Wolves, stating that he should’ve done better with Raul Jiménez’s goal.

The 30-year-old has been deputising in goal in the absence of Martin Dúbravka, putting in a number of good performances, particularly in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur.

Although, the former Nottingham Forest stopper believes he could’ve done better at Molineux on Saturday.

Speaking to the Newcastle Chronicle, Darlow said: “Yeah, I think I could have saved it. It happens.

“It’s one that I didn’t see until late and maybe could have gone with a different hand but we’ll work again at training this week and go again.

““We defended well on the whole.

“They were coming at us for quite a long time and defensively we were pretty solid apart from the shot for the goal. Other than that we played pretty well and played some good football on the counter-attack.”

Newcastle will be looking to move into the top half of the Premier League table with a win over Everton.
