N’Golo Kante could be set for sensational departure from Saudi side Al Ittihad this summer with the club ready to open the door for his exit after 2 season in Jeddah.

Two strong campaigns in Saudi Arabia

The 2018 World cup winner joined Al Ittihad after leaving Chelsea in 2023. Under Laurent Blanc, he quickly became cornerstone delivering 44 appearances & 10 goal contributions in his debut year followed by 35 matches & 8 contributions last season.

His consistency even secured him spot in Didier Deschamps France squad for Euro 2024 where he starred until the semifinals.

Contract tensions with Al Ittihad

Despite his importance, tensions have surfaced. Reports in Saudi media suggested Kante voiced frustration last July over earning less than newly arrived stars.

Al Ittihad offered him 2 year extension until 2028 on reduced wages but the midfielder insists on keeping his 25m dollar annual salary.

The club’s stance has now shifted, with well connected journalist Santi Aouna confirming the Saudi champions are open to letting him go.

French return on the horizon

According to Foot Mercato, Kante’s representatives have already approached ligue 1 clubs. AS Monaco & Paris FC are both interested while Saudi side Al Qadsiah's also entered the race.

A move to France would align with Kante’s ambition of playing at the 2026 World cup in North America potentially his final major tournament.
