According to a report, Tottenham’s Harry Kane ‘wants to join’ Bayern Munich this summer and the German champions are ‘considering’ making a third bid for the striker.

Kane’s contract expires next year and he has no desire to sign a new deal as things stand.

This has triggered interest from Real Madrid, Manchester United and Bayern, though the Bundesliga side now appear to be the only club actively pursuing the England captain.

The Bavarians made an opening bid worth an initial €60million – which was instantly rejected – before coming back with an improved offer of €80m.

Tottenham owner Daniel Levy will not accept the second bid, so Bayern are now contemplating whether or not to come back with a third offer.

According to ESPN, while Bayern ‘consider’ doing so, Kane will hope they do as he is ‘keen to join’ the Bundesliga giants.

The same outlet say Kane has been offered a new contract but ‘is not willing to extend’ as ‘he wants to sign for Bayern this summer’.

They also say Thomas Tuchel ‘met Kane in London a few weeks ago’. During said meeting, it became clear that the 29-year-old is ‘attracted to the idea of winning trophies’ in Germany. What a surprise.

It is noted that Bayern’s second offer was worth a total of €94m (£79.95million) as Kane’s agent and brother, Charlie, remains in ‘constant contact’ with the German club’s hierarchy.

Some reports say Tottenham could let their talisman leave for around £100m, though ESPN reckons Bayern are ‘reluctant’ to meet those demands.

Of course, if Levy decides to keep hold of the England skipper, he will be able to walk on a free transfer next summer.

Obviously, this would see Kane have his choice of clubs and he could end up joining a direct rival like Manchester United for diddly squat.

Kane is not pushing for an exit, which strengthens Levy’s hand in negotiations with Bayern.

The report adds that French champions Paris Saint-Germain are ‘also monitoring the situation’ and are ‘waiting to see how negotiations play out between Bayern and Spurs before making a move’.

Speaking to the media for the first time as Spurs head coach, Ange Postecoglou said he could not assure fans Kane will be at the club for the start of 2023/24 but is preparing to speak to the striker when he returns for pre-season.

“I haven’t had any assurances and I wouldn’t expect any assurances,” Postecoglou insisted.

“What I know right now is that Harry is part of this squad and he’s looking forward to coming back to training and being amongst these players and starting to work together.

“He’s a very important part. He’s one of the premier strikers in the world and I want him involved. My conversation with him will be about how we can make this club successful and I’ve got no doubts that’s what he wants as well.”
