Harry Kane doubled England’s lead over Senegal on the stroke of half-time, scoring his first goal at the 2022 World Cup.

Kane was involved in England’s opener, putting Jude Bellingham in behind the Senegalese defence before the young midfielder squared the ball for Jordan Henderson to open the score as Bellingham became the youngest player to assist for England since 1966.

The pair would be involved again in the second as Bellingham broke forward before Phil Foden combined with the Spurs star, who finished emphatically past Édouard Mendy.

That goal was Kane’s first in this year’s rendition of the competition, adding to the 29-year-old’s three assists, while also being England’s eighth different goalscorer – the highest number of individual scorers England has ever had in the competition.

The Tottenham striker is helping England take another step towards the quarter-finals as he closes in on Wayne Rooney’s record.
