The midfielder revealed in March he had held talks with the Gers about a new contract, with Steven Gerrard keen to tie him down.

His current terms expire in 2023.

Hutton suggested interest would be building in Kamara thanks to his performances for Finland.

As such, he insisted it was crucial Rangers managed to tie him down to a new deal.

Hutton told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge: “I’m sure there’ll be a lot of people looking at him.

“Hopefully Rangers can tie him down because I think he’s a valuable member of that team. It’d be a real positive for next season if we can keep hold of him.

“He’s in a strong position, isn’t he? He’s already a fantastic player. When you put in performances like that on a regular basis, there’s always going to be people looking at you to go and enhance the team.

“He’s holding all the cards at the moment. Rangers are obviously going to have to offer him something he thinks is acceptable. We’ll see how that pans out.”

Kamara played 51 times for Rangers across all competitions during the 2020/21 campaign.

He made his 30th appearance for Finland in Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Russia.
