This summer’s first international fixtures involving Eintracht players have come and gone. On the whole, the positives just about outweighed the negatives.

Eintracht midfielder Ajdin Hrustic came on in the 73rd minute of Australia’s 2-1 friendly win against Jordan, helping the Socceroos see out the narrow victory.

Daichi Kamada played a key role in Japan’s 4-1 triumph over Paraguay. The Eagles star was the best player on the pitch against the South Americans, doubling the Samurai Blue’s lead with a header shortly before half-time and registering an assist.

Kostic starts, Hauge misses out

Filip Kostic was on the pitch for 69 minutes as Serbia lost 1-0 to Norway in the Nations League. Eintracht’s Norwegian winger Jens Petter Hauge was an unused substitute.

Djibril Sow and Switzerland were also beaten in their opening Nations League game against the Czech Republic. Sow started the match before being replaced by Steven Zuber in the 68th minute as the Nati slipped to a 2-1 defeat.

Kristijan Jakic played no part in Croatia’s disappointing start to their Nations League campaign. The 2018 World Cup runners-up lost 3-0 at home to Austria.

Ansgar Knauff and recent arrival Faride Alidou, meanwhile, had reason to celebrate as they helped Germany’s Under-21s clinch their place at next summer’s European U21 Championship. Knauff played 79 minutes of the 4-0 win over Hungary, while Alidou was brought on in the ninth minute.

Kevin Trapp watched Germany’s 1-1 Nations League draw with Italy from the bench.

Almamy Toure was also an unused substitute in Mali’s 4-0 win over Congo to kick off their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
