According to the latest reports in Italy, Lazio are in a race against time to get Daichi Kamada locked down to a new contract, but the Japan international wants a low release clause.

The midfielder arrived last summer as a free agent from Eintracht Frankfurt on August 4, having previously been in negotiations with Milan, Inter, Napoli and Roma.

He struggled at first under Maurizio Sarri, but enjoyed the new more advanced role given to him by Igor Tudor.

Kamada contract is complex

When Kamada arrived last year, he agreed a contract that included an option to extend by two years and that needs to be activated by May 31.

According to Relevo reporter Matteo Moretto, Kamada has given the all-clear to sign the extended contract, but only if a low release clause is written in.

Lazio would prefer the clause to be worth €20m, so the two parties are currently negotiating how to progress.

There is very little time to get the situation sorted out before the option expires on Friday.
