When Simon Kjær suffered a knee injury in the middle of the season, no one thought that Milan would somehow find a way no make their defense better – but the Fikayo Tomori-Pierre Kalulu pairing proved to be the strongest in Italy and one of the best in Europe.

The defense of the Rossoneri is what made the difference in their 19th Scudetto win and 21-year-old Kalulu, who started the season as third-choice right-back, turned out to be a huge hero.

“I don’t know if you can see it [Pierre is showing his medal to the camera] – Campione d’Italia! So everyone understands…” Kalulu told MilanTV at the end of the game.

On the season: “I don’t know whose success this is. The coach has done an amazing job, the whole team worked so hard and we got here with a lot of sacrifice. You can see that in training and on the pitch we all worked really hard until the very end. We are Campioni d’Italia, it is amazing [smiles].”

On the young group: “As a young player, there’s a lot you can do to improve. The whole group has done this and we have grown a lot and we have more confidence in ourselves as well as from the fans and all the family.”

On the emotions he’s going through: “I always try to be composed so that I have the flexibility to do everything. It’s true that tonight it’s a really incredible feeling. I will talk to my friends and family afterwards, but I just want to take it all in right now. I’m really happy.”
