Kaizer Chiefs eye Nigerian striker: Will the deal happen?
Kaizer Chiefs are ramping up efforts to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the 2025/2026 season, with an unnamed Nigerian striker now under serious consideration. The club is keen to add more firepower and competition up front, particularly to push new signing Flavio Silva.
Insiders reveal that the Nigerian forward fits the profile Chiefs are looking for, though his identity remains undisclosed. The technical team is assessing multiple options, with the player’s style seen as a good tactical fit for the squad.
In addition, the club has revisited its interest in Etiosa Ighodaro, the Mamelodi Sundowns forward who spent last season on loan at AmaZulu, where he netted six times in 27 appearances. However, a potential deal faces complications due to Ighodaro’s pending permanent residence permit (PRP), which currently classifies him as a foreign player.
Chiefs have only one remaining foreign-player slot available, making any move for Ighodaro dependent on his PRP approval. The club is proceeding cautiously to avoid exceeding their quota.
Ighodaro, who has previously played for SuperSport United and Chippa United, offers proven PSL experience and could be a smart addition if the registration hurdles are cleared. As the new season approaches, Chiefs continue to explore ways to reinforce their attack.
