Kaizer Chiefs Eye Back to Back Wins as They Host Polokwane City
Kaizer Chiefs will be looking to build on their winning start to the Betway Premiership when they face Polokwane City at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Soweto giants opened the 2025 /26 season with 2 - 0 victory over Stellenbosch FC and are targeting consecutive wins for the 1st time since last season.
Despite last season’s struggles against Polokwane City, captain Miguel Inacio insists the match isn't about payback. Chiefs failed to beat the Limpopo side in 2024 /25 earning just 1 point from 2 game.
"It’s not revenge game for us, We just have to do our best to win. Last season we lacked consistency and that’s our main challenge now" said Inacio.
Assistant coach Cedric Kaze confirmed that Ethan Chislett, Paseka Mako and Pule Mmodi are all available for selection. Chislett who recently received his South African passport, is eligible to make his debut. Mako's recovered from injury while Mmodi returns from suspension.
"We’re in very good space for tomorrow. It’s our first home game and we know the importance of starting strong in front of our fans" Kaze said.
Chiefs managed only 5 home wins last season collecting 19 point from 14 match. Improving their FNB Stadium record's priority and Kaze believes this fixture is the perfect opportunity.
"We lacked consistency last season. This game's important to set the tone for what we want to achieve" he added.
The last time Chiefs beat Polokwane City was in Dec 2023, thanks to Pule Mmodi goal. Since then, Rise & Shine have been tricky opponent winning once and drawing once in the last campaign.
