Kaizer Chiefs and clubs from Russia interested in signing Elias Mokwana
In the summer of 2024, Tunisian giants Espérance de Tunis secured the services of 24-year-old South African winger Elias Mokwana, and despite his lack of involvement with the team, the technically gifted winger has helped the Tunisian side win the Tunisian Cup and the Tunisian Football League as well.
The winds of change are blowing for Esperance de Tunis’ rising star, as his future appears increasingly likely to unfold far from the Tunisian capital. Several foreign clubs have expressed serious interest in securing the services of the young international, sparking a bidding war that could see him depart in the coming weeks.
Russian sides have been particularly active in their pursuit. FK Dinamo Makhachkala has tabled an initial loan offer with an option to buy, testing the waters for a potential deal. Meanwhile, FK Khimki has taken a more aggressive approach, submitting a permanent transfer bid worth $800,000 in an attempt to lure the player away.
However, Esperance’s management has deemed the figures insufficient. With Mokwana’s blend of youth, experience, and international pedigree, the club believes his market value exceeds the current proposals. Sources indicate they are holding out for at least €1 million before greenlighting any transfer—a sum they consider fair for a player of his caliber.
As negotiations unfold behind the scenes, all eyes remain on where Mokwana’s next destination will be. Will Russian clubs raise their offers, or will another contender emerge in this high-stakes transfer saga? One thing is certain: his time in Tunisia seems to be nearing its end.
