Lechia have been without a permanent manager since the start of September, when Marcin’s namesake, Tomasz Kaczmarek, was relieved of his duties following a poor run of results, culminating in a 3-0 home defeat to Lech Poznań.

Since his departure from Lechia in 2006, Marcin has led spent time in charge of a number of clubs, including Pogoń Szczecin, Widzew Łódź, Wisła Płock and Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza. As a player, he also both started and ended his career at Lechia.

Marcin’s father, Bogusław, is also a renowned manager, and himself led Lechia during the 2012/13 season.

“Gdańsk is my city, Lechia is my club. I have worked here before and I know the place very well. I am grateful to the Management Board of Lechia Gdańsk for this proposal. I also feel great responsibility because I know where Lechia is now. I believe in the team, I know who I will work with. Together we will prove our potential. We have a lot of hard work ahead of us, but I am convinced that we can make it.” Marcin Kaczmarek, Lechia Gdańsk coach

Lechia currently sit bottom of the Ekstraklasa, with just five points from their nine games. Kaczmarek’s second stint at the club will begin on October 1, away at former club Pogoń Szczecin.
