Born and raised in Ukraine, the young player joined the Buffalos’ youth set-up two-and-a-half years ago due to the war in his home country. Before that, he played for Shakhtar Donetsk. His new deal sees him contracted to the club until 2027.
Sasha is a defensive midfielder who started with the U18 side before ultimately earning a place in the core of Jong KAA Gent at the beginning of this season. His coach at the reserves, Thomas Matton, spoke of him as a player who radiates a sense of calm on the ball:
“Sasha is a defensive midfielder with very good positional play, who scans well and knows what is happening around him at any moment of the game. He is able to determine the tempo of a match and is making good progress this season.”
