FC Nürnberg earned a famous 3-0 victory over Juventus in a pre-season friendly at the Max-Morlock Stadion, in what was Thiago Motta’s first game in charge of the Old Lady.
With Juve having multiple players at EURO 2024 and Nürnberg a few weeks ahead in the pre-season schedule, it was not too surprising that the Bundesliga 2 side looked the sharper and took the lead in the 19th minute.
It was an excellent goal too, with midfielder Caspar Jander dancing his way through Juve’s defence before finishing coolly past Michele Di Gregorio.
Juventus rolled on the subs at half-time, with Dušan Vlahović and Nicolò Fagioli among them. The arrival of two of their big names had the desired effect but the Serb striker missed a golden opportunity to equalise from the penalty spot, hitting the post.
Nürnberg put some gloss on the victory with two goals inside the last three minutes from Dustin Forkel and Tim Janisch on a famous day for a club who will be looking to return to the top flight after five seasons away.
