Juventus have jumped ahead of AC Milan in the battle for Santos striker Kaio Jorge, according to Italian media sources.

Jorge appeared all set to join Milan, with his Santos contract due to expire at the end of the year. However, the two clubs have failed to reach an agreement over a fee for the striker.

Sportitalia says Juve have now come forward to make a formal approach to Santos.

Juve have requested permission from the Brazilian club to open talks with Jorge. But adding a twist to the story is the suggestion the Bianconeri already have a pre-contract agreement with the player.

Milan, meanwhile, remain confident of eventually reaching terms with Santos for the youngster.
