Juventus injury-prone ace Paul Pogba is the latest megastar to be courted by the ambitious Saudi Pro League project.
As per Sky Sport Italia, the Frenchman paid a visit to Al-Ittihad’s training facility during a recent trip to the Kingdom amid talks linking him with a blockbuster switch to Jeddah.
Despite snapping up N’Golo Kante from Chelsea and Karim Benzema from Real Madrid, the reigning Saudi champions are reluctant to call time on their spending spree this summer.
Al-Ittihad have reportedly pitched the 30-year-old Juventus midfielder with a mind-blowing contract offer worth €100 million spanning across three years.
Pogba couldn’t have hoped for a worse Bianconeri reunion as he spent most of his comeback campaign on the sidelines, with a series of injury setbacks limiting him to only 104 minutes of top-flight action in 2022/23.
His lengthy spells in the treatment room quickly turned him into one of the least popular figures at the Allianz Stadium, causing fans to call for his dismissal.
Despite sending an encouraging message to the Turin faithful at the end of last season, the ex-Manchester United playmaker may not live up to his promise in light of Al-Ittihad’s lucrative approach.
Pogba returned to Juventus in 2022 following an underwhelming six-year stint at Old Trafford, hoping to revive his career and help the Bianconeri recover lost glory.
But since nothing went his nor Juve’s way last season, both sides could be inclined to listen to Al-Ittihad’s proposal, especially Massimiliano Allegri’s side.
With three years left to run on the midfielder’s contract, Juventus could earn a significant profit from Pogba’s departure, considering they didn’t pay a penny to bring him back last summer.
Allegri had hoped Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic could either replace or link up with Pogba next season. But the Italians are on the verge of losing that battle to another Saudi Pro League outfit.
The 28-year-old has reportedly accepted a mega-money contract from Al-Hilal, inflicting a massive transfer blow on Juventus.
