Juventus shake-up: a Serie A giant resets its attack

Juventus have moved quickly in the early days of the transfer window, closing in on several key moves and restructuring contracts as they reshape their squad for next season. According to Tutto Juve, Spazio J, Bianconera News, and JNetwork24, the club has settled a deal for Jonathan David, is nearing an agreement to renew Federico Gatti’s deal, and continues to work on high-profile exits and further reinforcements.

Jonathan David is expected in Turin imminently to finalize his move from Lille. As first reported by Bianconera News and echoed by Spazio J, the Canadian striker will undergo medicals and sign his contract in the next 24 hours, becoming the first significant signing of the Comolli era. The terms reportedly secure David for several years, with the aim of revitalizing an attack in need of fresh impetus following Juventus’ Club World Cup elimination.

The signing of David addresses the center-forward role, particularly with Kolo Muani’s future at Paris Saint-Germain and Dusan Vlahovic’s situation unresolved. Vlahovic was left on the bench during the recent defeat to Real Madrid and, as highlighted by Spazio J, the Serbian striker has so far refused any contract extension at reduced terms. With his current deal expiring in June 2026 and Juventus seeking a minimum €25 million to avoid a loss, the club is ready to part ways. Manchester United and Arsenal have shown interest, but no concrete offers have materialized.

Off the pitch, relations between Vlahovic and Juventus appear increasingly strained, following the player’s visible reaction after the Madrid match—specifically his social media activity, which irritated both fans and the club. Juventus is prioritizing his sale to clear wages and redirect resources, with the next move expected once a suitable bid arrives.

In the wake of David’s imminent arrival, Juventus remain active. According to Tuttosport and JNetwork24, the club has intensified its pursuit of Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian’s €75 million clause valid for foreign clubs expires on July 14, and his reluctance to join Napoli’s pre-season points to a likely transfer. Whether Juventus can close that deal will largely depend on player exits and negotiations with Napoli.

Elsewhere, work is ongoing to add an attacking winger. Eurosport reports significant progress in talks for Jadon Sancho, with the English attacker from Manchester United willing to lower his salary demands to facilitate a move to Turin. This follows Spazio J’s confirmation that Juventus want a new wide player to allow for tactical flexibility, with both Miguel Gutierrez (Girona) and Antonee Robinson (Fulham) also under consideration.

On the renewal front, Federico Gatti’s contract extension until 2030 is reportedly close, per Tutto Juve. The 27-year-old defender is seen as integral to the rebuilding project and an agreement on improved terms is considered imminent.

Juventus’ strategy signals a broader intent: refreshing the squad with ambitious signings while gradually offloading high earners and securing core players for the long term.
