Juventus are set to have a legal battle with Cristiano Ronaldo over the unpaid wages of the Portuguese superstar from his time at the club.

During the COVID-19 era, Juventus had deferred wages of multiple players in the squad and they had sought a similar solution through private agreements but it involved only specific players. One of them was Ronaldo himself, but the unpaid wages were not paid to the Portuguese by the time he left for Manchester United in the summer of 2021.

It was recently reported that Ronaldo would be suing the club for not having received those deferred wages till now and Fabiana della Valle reports that Juve are of the belief that they have done nothing wrong and there is no amount of money pending, when it comes to CR7.

The two parties seem set to battle it out at the FIGC Arbitration Court, where CR7 will be represented by his lawyers John Shehata, Fabio Iudica, Emanuele Lucchini Guastalla and Salvatore Pino; the Turin club will represented by the lawyer Eugenio Barcellona, of the Pedersoli firm.

The lawyers of the player refer to the private document signed by the club’s then sporting director Fabio Paratici and it is proof that the payment is pending. Juve believe that the document carries no legal value and they consider Ronaldo’s move to United in 2021 as a ‘release’ that wiped out the €19.9 million. Ronaldo’s entourage believe that the move wasn’t a ‘release’ as no reference was made to the amount that the player was due.
