Juventus are sending scouts to watch the Nations League fixture between Czechia and Albania on Friday evening to have a close look at Empoli centre-back Ardian Ismajli, who is currently being considered as a potential replacement for the injured Gleison Bremer.
Bremer is out long-term with a ligament and meniscus injury in his knee, and is expected to miss the vast majority of the 2024-25 campaign at a minimum.
Several names have been linked with a move to Turin in the week following Bremer’s injury, including former Inter defender and current PSG player Milan Skriniar, but Ismajli is now one of the frontrunners ahead of the January transfer window, according to Friday’s reports.
Juventus have a few guidelines they must adhere to when it comes to finding a new centre-back. The club would reportedly like somebody who is ready to play in Serie A immediately, one who is preferably below 30 years of age and one that is not going to break the bank in terms of finances.
Ismajli, 28, with 71 Serie A appearances to his name, fits all of the above criteria, and the fact that he has occasionally filled in at right-back is an added bonus.
According to Friday’s reports, Juventus already sent scouts to watch Ismajli during Empoli’s recent 2-1 loss away to Lazio prior to the international break, and will again send delegates to watch him on international duty for Albania.
