Juventus were made to work in front of home fans as poor finishing plagued Massimiliano Allegri’s side for about an hour.

Fortunately for the hosts, the same narrative frustrated Cagliari. The opening half inside Allianz Stadium featured 14 shots combined but nothing for either side hit the target.

Moise Kean and Federico Chiesa were active in the box, while Weston McKennie had the best chance to break the deadlock with a wide header. Meanwhile, Nicolas Viola’s left-footed strike was the best attempt at the other end.

After the break, Juventus ramped up the pressure and a first goal of the season from a leaping Gleison Bremer broke the deadlock.

The goal boosted the hosts’ spirits, while Cagliari were pretty stumped about how to fight back. A bit of luck then doubled the lead as the ball deflected off Daniele Rugani’s chest for another.

Yet the hosts appeared to switch off immediately after securing a two-goal advantage. The visitors, as a result, piled on the pressure as a potential comeback loomed.

A third then found the back of the net as a leaping header from Alberto Dossena saw Cagliari pull one back. It was the first goal Juventus conceded in 615 minutes.

He later had a second attempt hit off the post, which left Allegri’s men sweating but they held on by the skin of their teeth and now sit first above Inter by one point. Cagliari, meanwhile, are 17th.
