Juventus are monitoring Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti in case the club decides to sell him, according to Calciomercato.

The Serie A club has contacted his representatives to stay ahead of the queue if the Parisians decide to sell.

PSG are planning a massive clearout this summer following their exit from the Champions League in the last-16.

Verratti was one of the scapegoats for their 3-0 aggregate loss to Bayern Munich. He gave away the ball, leading to a Bayern goal.

He also lost 11 of his 20 duels against the Bavarians as they dribbled past him eight times.

There have been rumours that the 30-year-old could leave Turin after 11 years – he joined them from Pescara in 2012.

Juventus hope to benefit from a great relationship with Verratti’s agent Rafaela Pimenta. She helped bring Paul Pogba back to Turin after six years with Manchester United.

Verratti has a contract that runs out in 2026. Any deal for Juventus will involve them shelling out a significant sum.

However, PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi is a big admirer of Verratti. He sees the player as a leader on and off the pitch.

Verratti has made 407 appearances for Les Parisiens and is on course to break Jean-Marc Pilorget’s all-time record of 435. He has battled niggling injuries that have prevented him from playing more games.

Despite being an Italy international with 51 caps and winning the 2020 European Championship, he has never played in Serie A.

Verratti came close to leaving PSG in 2017 when Barcelona were chasing him. He wanted to leave the club, but the Ligue 1 table-toppers stood firm and refused to sell.

He has won eight Ligue 1 titles, six Coupe de France trophies, six Coupe de la Ligue and nine French Super Cups with PSG.
