Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has been banned for four years for doping.

Italy’s anti-doping tribunal has handed a four-year ban to Juventus midfielder Pogba for doping.

Several sources in Italy, including Repubblica and Sky Sport Italia confirm the anti-doping tribunal has accepted requests from the FIGC Prosecutor, so the French midfielder has been suspended for four years.

Pogba had failed a doping test on August 20, 2023 after the opening Serie A game of the season between Juventus and Udinese, which he had entirely spent on the bench.

DHEA, which can raise the level of testosterone, was found in Pogba’s body and a second sample also tested positive in October.

Pogba was precautionarily suspended in September 2023 so he hasn’t trained with the rest of his Juventus teammates since then. His salary was also cut to circa €2,400 per month, as provided by the collective agreement between clubs and the footballer’s association.

The 2018 France World Cup winner returned to Juventus on a free transfer from Manchester United in 2022 but only made 12 appearances across all competitions in his second spell at the Allianz Stadium.

Pogba can appeal the ruling from the anti-doping tribunal.
