Giorgio Chiellini could potentially miss the rest of the season for Juventus after picking up a serious knee injury in training.
The Bianconeri confirmed the news via a short medical statement.
The Italy international tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee at Vinovo on Friday afternoon.
While they did not offer a timeline for his recovery, it is as serious as expected, it could see him miss up to six or seven months of action.
Juventus also confirmed that the veteran will undergo an operation in the coming days.
The 35-year-old had started the season well for the Old Lady.
He scored the only goal of the game and kept a clean sheet in Juve’s season opener against Parma.
Matthijs de Ligt will be set to deputise, having sat out the opening game of the campaign.
