Juventus have other options despite Zirkzee rumours with Manchester United

Reports online and in the UK over the last week have seen Juventus linked with a move to sign former Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee on loan from Manchester United in January, but the Bianconeri have other profiles worth exploring according to reports in the Italian press.

Some reports over the last week have suggested that Zirkzee is already open to a possible return to Italy, but Juventus have had no formal contact with Manchester United.

Where Juventus stand amid links to Zirkzee from Manchester United

Juventus are looking at options to sign a striker in the January transfer window as an alternative or understudy to Dusan Vlahovic, but Maurizio Russo of Calciomercato.it has recently explained that there is little room in the Juventus budget to work with in January, unless other players are sold first.

That means that there are four potential types of striker that Juventus could pursue ahead of the January transfer window, Russo explained on TiAmoCalciomercato on YouTube.

One option could be to arrange a swap deal with another Serie A club, potentially involving Next Gen players in order to bring the overall cost down. Lorenzo Lucca was mentioned as an example, although that was merely a suggestion.

Another option would be to go after a player who would be entering the last six months of their contract, like Dominic Calvert-Lewin of Everton, who has been linked with a move to Serie A in recent months.

Russo suggested that Juventus could also take advantage of another club who need to sell players for financial reasons, such as Sevilla, who could be open to letting Dodi Lukebakio go.

The final option that was mentioned was a ‘big name’ player on loan, such as Zirkzee, but given the amount that Manchester United paid for him in the summer, that would likely come with a relatively large fee as well.
