Roma started on top in this match as their attack lunged towards Juventus’ defence. Strong goalkeeping from Wojciech Szczęsny kept things level.

The breakthrough came in the 16th minute when Rodrigo Bentancur’s cross floated into the box where three team-mates were lurking. Moise Kean had the last touch on the ball for 1-0.

Roma then ramped up the pressure to try and equalise. A driving run from Tammy Abraham in the box resulted in Szczęsny taking out Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

However, the Polish goalkeeper saved Jordan Veretout’s penalty. It was his first missed penalty for Roma after 14 successful attempts.

Coming out after the break the match continued to be a nervy affair. Roma thought they had another penalty but VAR decided otherwise.

Both sides continued to push for a second goal and the match was electric at either end.

A tireless performance from Juventus’ defence managed to stifle any threats from the visitors and they held on for the win.

Juventus are now seventh in the table while Roma are fourth.
