Antonio Conte warned Napoli players that only those who win ‘make history’, a message he had already sent to Juventus players over ten years ago.
Conte’s Napoli are enjoying a three-point lead over second-placed Inter with three games remaining in Serie A and the Italian tactician motivated his team after Saturday’s win over Lecce by saying: “Those who win write the history books. The others can only read them.”
As reported by Ilbianconero.com, it’s practically the same message that Conte wrote in a celebratory shirt at Juventus in 2014 after he had won the third consecutive Scudetto with the Bianconeri.

After the last home game against Cagliari in 2013-14, Conte wore a shirt with this message: “There are those who read history and those who write it.”
The Italian coach would leave the Bianconeri only a few months later, just one day into the 2014-15 pre-season, paving the way for the beginning of Massimiliano Allegri’s era.
Conte has won four Serie A titles as a coach, three at Juventus and once at Inter.
“I don’t need to lie, this was an important step towards the Scudetto,” Conte said after a 1-0 win over Lecce.
“It is an important step, even if not the most important. I was afraid of Lecce on their own turf, as they are battling against relegation, while we arrived here dealing with an emergency situation.
“People seemed to act like this was all normal, but Olivera played for the first time with me as a central defender,” insisted the coach.
“This is a team that is responding with everyone, as even Simone Scuffet did well against Bologna.”
