Juventus coach Thiago Motta confirmed that Teun Koopmeiners was taken off at half-time against Monza with an ‘adductor issue.’
The former Atalanta star had been in the starting XI as part of the two-man midfield with Manuel Locatelli, a deeper role than he had been using at the start of the season.
When he was replaced by Khephren Thuram for the second half at the U-Power Stadium in Monza, DAZN reporters asked Thiago Motta for an explanation.
“He felt something in his adductor harden. We decided not to risk it,” confirmed the coach.

Although this is the final game before Christmas, Juventus have a packed fixture list coming up and do not want to risk doing further damage to one of their most valuable players.
They will host Fiorentina on Sunday December 29, then open the Supercoppa Italiana against Milan in Saudi Arabia on January 3.
If they win that, then Juve will also play the Supercoppa Final against either Inter or Atalanta a few days later.
Serie A then resumes with Torino and Atalanta away, then hosting Milan on January 18.
