Midfielder Teun Koopmeiners and winger Nico Gonzalez are hoping to be fit for Juventus in their Serie A clash with Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Juventus coach Thiago Motta is dealing with a number of significant injuries at the moment.
The biggest is undoubtedly that of Brazilian international Bremer.
Bremer has been Juventus’s defensive linchpin since joining from Torino in the summer of 2022. And he has been over the first few matches of this season.
But Bremer will not be available for much or all of the rest of the season.
That is because of an ACL injury that the Brazilian picked up during the Bianconeri’s Champions League clash with RB Leipzig.
However, Bremer is not the only injury issue for Juventus at the moment.
There are also two other players who picked up problems in the match against Leipzig.
Midfielder Koopmeiners picked up a rib injury against Leipzig.
The 26-year-old did get straight back into action against Cagliari in Juventus’s first match before the international break. But he had to come off as a substitute at halftime.
And it is not exactly clear when Koopmeiners will be able to return.
Juventus take on Lazio in Serie A in their first match back from the international break.
And then there is Stuttgart in the way in midweek after that, in the Champions League.
Koopmeiners will not likely be able to return to the pitch in time for either of those matches.
However, the former Atalanta and AZ Alkmaar is eyeing up the Derby d’Italia against Inter the following weekend.
That is always a marquee fixture in Serie A, and there is a sense that it could have title ramifications.
Meanwhile, winger Nico Gonzalez, a summer signing from Fiorentina, also picked up an injury against Leipzig.
And according to the Corriere, he is targeting a return against Inter like Koopmeiners.
