Juventus wrapped up the 2021/22 season with a 2-0 loss to Fiorentina on Saturday.
Scorers: Duncan 45+1′, González 90+2′ (PEN)
It was one-way traffic at the Stadio Artemio Franchi as Fiorentina put Juventus to the test with the aims to play European football next season.
And the hosts, therefore, took control of the match right from the first whistle though chances came few and far between throughout the opening half.
That was until Alfred Duncan made things 1-0 minutes before the break after Juventus failed to clear the ball.
Massimiliano Allegri’s attack of Paulo Dybala and Moise Kean, meanwhile, struggled to link up top registering only one shot all half and former Fiorentina ace Dušan Vlahović was left on the bench.
As the match went on Fiorentina maintained their dominance of the ball but couldn’t find a way to double their lead.
Fortunately for them though, the Biaconeri didn’t register another shot on target which erased any pressure and a late Nicolás González penalty wrapped up a 2-0 win to see the hosts reach the Europa Conference League.
The result means Juventus ends the season on a sour note, which is especially significant for departing players Dybala and Giorgio Chiellini.
