Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri says selling Mehdi Benatia in January would be “madness”.

Benatia has made just six appearances in all competitions for the Bianconeri this season, and recently expressed his frustration at his lack of action via his official Instagram account.

“In this difficult time, many of you leave me messages of support, and I thank you for it!” wrote the 31-year-old.

“I particularly want to pay a tribute to the Moroccans of the world who take the time to write to me!

“As I can not answer everyone, I confirm that there is no place for doubt and that we must continue to move with our heads held high because a LION never dies, he sleeps.”

The Moroccan has been hotly tipped to leave the club next month but speaking after Saturday’s win over Sampdoria, Allegri insisted they have no plans to sell anybody during the winter window.

“I do not think he will go away, he is an important player,” said Allegri.

“He has played six games, on some occasions he was not well, but to let him go would be madness.”

Benatia hasn’t featured since he gave away a penalty against AC Milan at the start of November.

His contract expires in June 2020.
