With the pressure on the Bianconeri due to results elsewhere, they got off to the best possible start when Dejan Kulusevski curled home after good work from Juan Cuadrado.

Their second of the afternoon came when Federico Chiesa pounced on disastrous defending and oceans of space to race through and after his effort was saved and Cristiano Ronaldo hit the post, Alvaro Morata scored at the third attempt.

Genoa pulled one back four minutes after half-time through Gianluca Scamacca’s header from a corner, only for Weston McKennie to put the result beyond doubt just two minutes after his return off the bench.

The victory keeps the Old Lady in third and they are now just one point behind Milan, while Genoa stay 13th, albeit a comfortable 10 points clear of relegation trouble.
