Juventus technically brought in Michele Di Gregorio and Nicolas Gonzalez on loan last summer, but they were already certain they’d stay permanently. It’s now final, as the conditions to trigger their obligations to buy have been met recently, Tuttomercatoweb reports.
The Bianconeri will disburse €13.5M for the goalkeeper, in addition to the initial €4.5M fee, and tack on €25M for the winger, on top of the first €8M installment. Some bonuses could bring the total sum close to €40M in the former Fiorentina ace’s case.
Di Gregorio has starred 29 times in his maiden Juventus season so far, allowing 29 goals and keeping 13 clean sheets, instead, Nicolas Gonzalez, who missed a couple of months due to a thigh injury, has appeared in 21 matches, scoring 3 goals and providing 4 assists.
The Argentine talked in the post-game presser after the win over Inter (via SOSFanta).
“The coach knows that he can count on me. I can play as a striker, winger, or fullback. Helping the team is all that matters. It’s not an issue. You can always improve. The experienced players must lead the way and show the youngsters how to fight.”
The formula was just a way to dilute the payment across more years than an outright deal would have allowed. The goalie hasn’t been otherworldly but has been very solid, avoiding blunders and quickly becoming a leader. The Bianconeri would surely like better production in the final third out of the attacker given his price tag and how he fared in Florence, but his energy and high work rate are precious to make their system go.
