Juventus are reportedly looking to lure Manchester City youngster Phil Foden to Italy.
Foden has been hailed as one of the best prospects to come out of City’s academy in years, but the competition for midfield places has limited his playing time in the Premier League.
Bernardo Silva, David Silva, and Kevin De Bruyne are all preferred to Foden in attacking midfield roles.
The 18-year-old has played just 46 minutes of Premier League football this season, with many around the game calling for the teenager to see much more of the pitch either at City or in greener pastures.
The Mirror reports that Italian giants Juventus are swirling around the talented teenager and hope that he is open to moving to Turin.
The Bianconeri irritated a large swath of Manchester in 2012 when they signed Paul Pogba from United on a free transfer. The French midfielder let his contract at Old Trafford expire allowing Juventus to sign only pay a FIFA-mandated training compensation fee.
Juventus hope to arrange a similar deal for another promising talent that will only cost less than €200,000.
Having seen a similar scenario play out, Manchester City will be aware of interest around Europe for Foden.
Foden saw former team-mate Jadon Sancho leave City in the summer of 2017 in search of more regular playing time. Sancho has grown into a role with Borussia Dortmund’s senior team since then, has three goals in his last two Bundesliga matches, and recently earned his first full England appearance.
Foden’s current contract runs through June 2020 but Juventus are reportedly setting down a marker to put pressure on Manchester City.
