ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

It is great to see that Liverpool are scouting players from abroad with potential, looking to pick up bargains and signing stars before they have the chance to show they are one. It is risky, given how hard it is to tell if a young player will develop as expected, but the upside can be huge if it works out. Say Liverpool sign him for £5-10m and he ends up being a starting central midfielder for the club, that could save £40-50m as they may have had to spend that to sort that position out with a ready-made star.

So, if Liverpool feel like he could develop into a player that can be a starter for Jurgen Klopp, he could be worth picking up. This means that the interest from Juventus and Manchester United is a worry, as it is impossible to know – at this point – whether or not they can offer more money, in terms of both a transfer fee and wages. The player, himself, could also have his own preferences and have his head turned by interest – depending on where he wants to play his football next.
