There are eight Europa League knockout round ties throughout the evening on Thursday. Check back for updates.
Scorers: Vlahović 13′; Blas 60′
Juventus have plenty of work to do in France after they were pegged back to draw at home to Nantes in the first leg of their play-off tie.
The home side took the lead through a moment of genius from Ángel Di María as his perfect curling through ball split the Nantes defence wide open and from the resulting flick across goal, Dušan Vlahović was left with a simple finish.
But on the hour mark, Massimiliano Allegri’s side were pegged back thanks to a series of errors as they first lost the ball in advanced territory, were caught out of position at the back and one costly slip later, Ludovic Blas rifled in emphatically at the near post.
Juventus responded quickly and were almost back in front within seconds only for Federico Chiesa to rattle the crossbar and see his shot veer to safety via the goal-line and five minutes after that the same fate befell Di María when he too was denied by the woodwork.
In the 98th minute, the visitors were worried again as there was a VAR check for a potential Juventus penalty for handball only for the referee to opt against awarding it due to a push in the build-up.
Scorers: Alonso 50′, Raphinha 75′; Rashford 52′, Koundé OG 59′
Barcelona and Manchester United played out a breathless thriller at Camp Nou which leaves their knockout tie wide open after a game filled with thrills and spills.
Xavi opted for Ronald Araújo at right-back with Jules Koundé in the centre and the visitors sprang a bigger surprise with Wout Weghorst occupying a No. 10 role behind Marcus Rashford.
Barcelona came closest in the opening exchanges when David de Gea did well to deny Robert Lewandowski inside the area before similar heroics were performed at the other end on 27 minutes when Marc-André ter Stegen kept Wout Weghorst at bay.
The German was it again shortly afterwards to deny Rashford this time as the gilt-edged opportunities began to pile up for the English outfit before Barcelona were dealt a big blow before the break when Pedri was forced off through injury, replaced by Sergi Roberto.
Moments after the restart, former Leeds man Raphinha went close with a blistering 25-yard effort which just missed the target and when Jadon Sancho missed another big chance in response, he was swiftly punished for it as Barça hit the front.
Marcos Alonso got the goal as he headed in unmarked at the back post but in keeping with the back-and-forth theme of the contest, Rashford levelled with a fantastic low near post finish to continue his rich vein of form to move on to a personal best 22 goals for the campaign.
And he was involved again just before the hour as United completed a swift turnaround as he forced the error which saw Koundé turn the ball into his own net.
But the scoring wasn’t finished and when former Real Madrid enforcer Casemiro lost the ball, it led to Raphinha levelling when his curling cross eluded everyone and found the net.
In a frantic finale, Barcelona had a big penalty appeal waved away and the post and De Gea came to United’s rescue to leave the tie wide open ahead of the return leg at Old Trafford.
Second leg ties will take place next week
