Juventus split the points with Bologna after a 1-1 draw on Saturday evening.
Scorers: Vlahović 90+5′; Arnautović 52′
Despite the likes of Paulo Dybala, Juan Cuadrado, Dušan Vlahović and Alvaro Morata all starting, Juventus’ attack struggled to click against Bologna throughout majority of the match.
None of the eight chances they had to open the scoring in the first half hit the target and it, therefore, set up a dramatic second 45 minutes in Turin.
Bologna demonstrated they were going to make Juve pay for wasting their opportunities and Marko Arnautović opened the scoring after finding space between Matthijs de Ligt and Giorgio Chiellini to slot the ball home for 1-0.
Massimiliano Allegri’s men then ramped up their efforts in an attempt to find an equaliser. Mattia De Sciglio blasted a shot just over, Danilo hit the post and a De Ligt header somehow didn’t find the net leaving the hosts empty-handed.
Bologna’s defence buckled down as time went on and the visitors threw themselves at every threat from Juventus to keep things a one-goal game. Until chaos unfolded.
Morata was taken down by Adama Soumaoro and VAR handed him a red card with Gary Medel was being sent off in the events. Juventus initially thought they had a late penalty but were awarded a free-kick instead which went wasted.
Then with eight minutes of injury time and a two-man advantage, the fourth-place hosts managed to scrape by when Vlahović appeared at the back post in the dying moments for 1-1 seeing the points shared with 11th-place Bologna.
