Roy Keane is a hard man to impress, especially nowadays as a pundit. It dates back to his days as a footballer when the Irishman helped set the highest of standards at Manchester United.

One man who left Keane impressed is Manchester United supporter and successful comedian Justin Moorhouse.

Keane attended one of Moorhouse’s stand-up gigs and approached the comedian with praise after the show.

Respected football magazine FourFourTwo sat down with Moorhouse to ask which past or present United star would make the best comedian.

Moorhouse reckons Keane would be a good shout, but he also gives a mention to fellow former club captain Bryan Robson.

“Bryan Robson was quick-witted, and Roy Meane might be very good,” Moorhouse says. “I mean, would anyone try to heckle Roy Keane?

“Roy came to see me doing stand-up, actually. I didn’t even know he was there at first – it was a fundraiser at my daughter’s school and his daughter went there, too. He walked over afterwards and said I was very funny. I thought, ‘Cheers!’

“My daughter said that her pal told her, ‘My dad thought your dad was really funny, and he must have been funny as Dad doesn’t laugh at anything.'”

When it comes to impressing Keane, Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has a lot to learn. The former Republic of Ireland captain didn’t hold back with his criticisms during England’s 2-1 defeat to Greece at Wembley.

England performed poorly and were lucky not to lose by a bigger margin after Levi Colwill made an incredible goal line clearance to provide relief for Pickford, who gave the ball away at the back while outside the penalty area.

Keane laid into Pickford at half-time, telling ITV (as quoted by The Mirror): “What’s he doing? ! Do it quickly. Brilliant defending, very unlucky by Greece but a lovely message for defenders – never give it up. He chased it and did brilliant. But not a good message from Pickford to send.”

After Ian Wright agreed by saying Pickford looked all over the place, Keane added: “That will always be there with Pickford. He’s not going to change now.”
