Derby County boss Paul Warne thinks that apart from Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola he is the only other manager who likes international breaks.

The Rams went into the international break with a 2-0 win against QPR and are currently sitting 12th in the league table.

As opposed to other managers, Derby boss Warne is a big welcomer of the international break as it gives him an opportunity to reassess his squad and help his players get some necessary rest.

Warne pointed out that Manchester City boss Guardiola also finds the international break amazing and he feels that he is the only manager apart from the Sky Blues boss who likes the breaks in the middle of a season.

The Derby manager added that the international break provides necessary mental rest for him and his players and pointed out it helped them to analyse their recent performances to implement changes in the training sessions.

“I know Pep said it as well, but I think I am the only manager who says international breaks are amazing”, Warne told Derby County’s in house media.

“Mentally, it is amazing; it is just like, literally, you have a can of fizz and you shake it up all season and then there is an international break.

“You just reset a little bit; it enables the injured lads to catch up a bit too.

“So like in the Under-21s this week, I know Daj [Dajaune Brown] got some minutes, Tom Barkhuizen did, Thommo [Liam Thompson] did and Rooney [Jake Rooney] did again, which is good.

“So it allows us to be able to watch that as well.

“It enables everyone to have a bit of a mental rest and to reassess how well we have done and being greedy, how well we could have done and what we want to tweak.”

Derby will return to action against Millwall this weekend when they will travel to the Den and Warne will be looking for the Rams’ first victory on the road this season.
