As we enter the final few weeks of the 2023/24 season, Real Madrid are yet to resolve the futures of some of their star players like Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, whose contracts expire on June 30.
Modric, for a long time, seemed to be headed for the exit doors, but recent reports suggested that the 38-year-old will continue for another season at the club.
Given that he put in some starring performances in recent games in the UEFA Champions League, it was suggested that Carlo Ancelotti & co. decided that they wanted to keep him for one more season while the player too felt important again.
However, now, according to reports from journalist Ramon Alvarez, Luka Modric will not be continuing at Real Madrid beyond the current campaign.
The 38-year-old was believed to be set to meet with club president Florentino Perez imminently to discuss the matter of his future.

While it is unclear if the meeting has taken place or not, it is now being claimed that Modric will be leaving the Merengues once the ongoing campaign is over and his contract expires.
If true, it will be a tremendous blow for Real Madrid, for Modric has been an icon for over a decade at the club and has shown that he can still make valuable contributions.
Furthermore, the update from Ramon Alvarez also adds that once Modric leaves, his vacant No. 10 jersey will go to impending new signing at Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe.
The Frenchman officially announced that he will be leaving PSG at the end of the season earlier this week, although the move to Real Madrid has not been confirmed yet.
But, at this point, it is widely expected that the 25-year-old will be arriving at the Spanish capital club and is now being tipped to take the No. 10 shirt that Modric will vacate.
